2018 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards for Iran

(Persia Digest) – The 2018 Gourmand World Cookbook Award has gone to an Iranian pastry book titled “Cookies” by Samira Janatdoust from Iran.

She had previously won awards for her cookery books “Modern Cooking” (2014 & 2015), “Traditional Persian Cooking” (2016), “Traditional Deserts” (2016), and “Cookies”.

Mehr reports that the “Cookies” book won the 2018 Gourmand World Cookbook Award yesterday, 27 May 2018. The Award was presented to Samira Janatdoust at the end of a ceremony held for the occasion. The Gourmand Awards for cooking is on par with the Oscars in the movies. Hundreds of chefs, authors, and cookery book publishers worldwide take part in the competitions. This year, the award has been given to Iran, alongside previous winners from the UK, USA, France, Italy, Spain, and Sweden.

On 3 March 2018, the shortlist for finalists was announced, placing Samira Janatdoust alongside the world’s top chefs. The ceremony was held in China on 27 May for which an invitation was extended to the author.
